Editorial policy

PETHEALTH+ publishes plain-English pet health information for UK owners. Every guide opens with a direct answer, cites where facts come from, links to original UK sources, and makes clear when to contact your vet — we do not sell products or replace a clinical examination.

How we use reference information

  • Rewrite — do not copy

We summarise published guidance in our own words. We do not copy text word-for-word from charity, government, or veterinary websites.

  • Attribute clearly

When a fact comes from a named body, we say so in the guide — for example, “According to the RSPCA, rabbits need…” or “The BVA warns that…”.

  • Check for updates

Animal care advice changes. Each guide shows when it was last updated, and we link to the original source pages so you can read the most recent publication.

  • No implied endorsement

We present facts without claiming that PDSA, RSPCA, BVA, Blue Cross, RWAF, Defra, RCVS, BSAVA or any other linked organisation officially sponsors or partners with PETHEALTH+.

  • Link back to sources

Where we rely on external guidance, we hyperlink to the original advice page in the “Sources & further reading” section at the bottom of each health guide.

Example attribution

In our guides: “According to the RSPCA, you should never leave a dog in a car on a warm day — interiors can reach dangerous temperatures within minutes.”

Not acceptable: Copying a whole paragraph from the RSPCA website without rewriting, or stating that the RSPCA “recommends PETHEALTH+”.

How we write guides

  • Answer-first summaries at the top of every health guide
  • UK vaccination schedules, parasite control and regulations
  • Named attribution to PDSA, RSPCA, BVA, RWAF and other UK sources — not US-only advice
  • Published and last-updated dates on every article
  • FAQ sections for common follow-up questions
  • Clear distinction between information and veterinary diagnosis

Frequently Asked Questions

Is PETHEALTH+ veterinary advice?
No. We publish information written in plain English and checked against publicly available UK guidance from organisations such as the PDSA, RSPCA, BVA and RWAF. It does not replace examination, diagnosis or treatment by a registered veterinary surgeon.
Do charities and veterinary bodies endorse PETHEALTH+?
No. We link to their published advice as helpful references for readers. Naming an organisation (for example, “According to the RSPCA…”) does not mean they sponsor, approve, or partner with this website.
How often is content reviewed?
Health guides display published and last-updated dates. We recheck articles when UK animal care guidance changes and at least quarterly for high-traffic topics such as seasonal safety.
Which pets are covered?
PETHEALTH+ covers dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, reptiles, small pets, horses and farm animals kept in the United Kingdom.
